5.0 T5 flywheels, where they all the same?

I got ready to pick up my flywheel for the t5 conversion on the hillbilly suv this afternoon, but there is a bit of confusion.

Is there any difference between the mid 80's flywheel and the early 90's version?

I ask because there seems to be a different part number for an 85 than for a 93.

If there is a difference what is it? The price aside, which one is better for a stock engined vic, doing more stump jumping, and towing than hard launches?

The early ones had a 10in clutch, the newer ones have a 10.5, I think. That's probably where the differences arise.

The newer the better. They did use a smaller clutch early on.

Thanks for the answer. I hadn't noticed the 10 vs 10.5 thing until you mentioned it. I guess I need to dig out the tape measure and check the clutch I got on ebay a couple years ago. It is a new king cobra clutch and pressure plate, but I can't remember what year it is for. LOL!

Probably fo the newer one. I doubt they make a HD one for the earlier car, they probably sell the KC and say to upgrade the FW.

Yes- they used the 10" through 1986, then in 1987 they went to the 10.5". The T5 was upgraded to World Class specs in 1986 but 1986 carried over the girly 10" flywheel/clutch combo. 1987-1995 should use the same 10.5" flywheel and clutch. I'd recommend the 10.5" primarily for parts availability.

Watch out for the early 80's 10" flywheels which have the 28 oz imbalance and the wrong pressure plate bolt pattern.
