If i wasnt going to need the car in a few weeks Id get 302 longtubes made before i yank the motor out. I'll have 351 longtubes done. Maybe someone could take a set and modify them for a 302. That'd sure as hell be alot easier than any other application.

      but, here's the thing...
I already have the stock mustang headers on it, are equal length shorties going to benefit me THAT much to warrant spending like 150 bucks?
if I might gain 10 hp or so, I'll just keep my stang ones..

however, if I would get a noticeable difference in sound and hp, maybe I'll spend the money, I could always sell my stang ones for a little cash...

Equal length shorties will interfere with the steering shaft, and the passenger side motor mount. Not to difficult to deal with, but also not really worth the hassle. There isn't that much gain from them. I ran MAC equal length shorties on my old car. I hated them so much I scrapped them.

The BBK fit onne of my mercs no problem the other had to move te steering shaft 1/4 of an inch no biggie just loosen a couple bolts. Tey didnt interfere any were else. They are better tah factory Mustang headers. There not that expensive un less you get ceramic coated ones. Later long tubes might be a affordable up grade.

Factory Mustang headers are ok, but nothing super special. They're fine on a stock motor, or up to about 275 hp or so without ported heads. If the exhaust ports are going to be bigger than stock, I'd probably go with regular BBK 1 5/8" unequal length shorties. The equal length sneak a few more ponies out, but its barely worth the extra hassle dealing with the plugs, etc. The stocker headers don't have real big primary tubes, and if the exhaust ports are hogged out, they'll become a restriction.

Less than $10/hp is one of the best deals out there for performance upgrades.

All floor-shift AODs use a cable connection between the shifter and the tranny, if that is replaced by a solid connecting rod (Lokar style) and the tranny lever is flipped upside down it should clear pretty much any headers made for a 302/AOD combo - heck it clears my bigass 4" glasspacks and I didn't even need to drop the exhaust when swapping tranny levers!

Getting to the plugs wasn't an issue with my equal lengths. Melting plug wires was.

You have better headers than the MAC's I had. The BBK's (short and equal) have been generally accepted as the ones to get.
