My Crane kit addresses the spring-height issue by using different locks on the intake and exhaust valves. They're mostly identical but have the inner ridge at different heights so that the installed height of the intake and exhaust springs is the same when using stock valves and spring seats.

What heads are you running? All the the newer stuff the intake and exhaust springs are different heights because of the rotator on the ehhaust valve. There are spring and retainer kits that adress this such as the behive spring kit by Crane. Springs, locks and retainers for around 120.00.
Most Summit valve train stuff I have purchased is made by Crane.

Wouldn't it just be easiest to get the manufacturer-recommended spring/retainer/lock combo to go with the cam? My Crane kit #444212 came with all that junk included, so there was no real guesswork needed.

the retainers should work....
Valve size, well look up some stock replacements and see what comes up, or measure the ones you have.
Could always call up Summit's tech line....

I guess I can try this one more time.
These springs: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=CCA-942-16
They have an outside spring diameter of 1.437. The retainers that are required show an outside spring diameter of 1.500. Will this work okay? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=TFS-21400424
Now, I need help with the locks. They don't show these under suggested parts, and when I go and look them up it comes up with ones for different valve sizes. What size do I need?
I need to order these parts as soon as possible, since a trip I'm going on next weekend, and GL is down right now.

This cam has an .050 duration of 212int/215exh, valve lift of .512, and an LSA of 114*. I like the numbers on your cam though, I would think that would work better on heavier cars like Panthers.
the xe264 is too much. The 258 is better, and smaller would be even better. I like the 264, but after looking at some other numbers, I'm thinking I should have gone smaller.

Time to dig this old fossil back up. Looking for 10* valve locks, don't know what to get, has different valve sizes and stuff, 1 groove, 2 groove. This stuff is confusing. Any help?

I ran my car without a carb spacer for the first few months then I added one later (phenolic). If you plan to run the HEI distributor, you need to use a 10" diameter air filter, the larger ones will not fit.
