    electric fans

anyone got any experience with aftermarket electric fans? i'm shopping for something different for the volvo, problem is i only have 2.5" of clearance to the water pump..........this narrows my fan options to a max of a 16" round fan that is 2" thick and has a 1600 cfm rating.....still better than what is in the car now, but i feel i will need more for the ac months in traffic...........was tossing the idea around of a pusher fan in front of the ac condensor to help out.......prob a second 1600 cfm unit........the volvo ratiator is quite large and this one is a new 3 row unit........any suggestions? i want to be able to drive this car in any traffic conditions

I think the fan you're looking at will probobly be fine. I don't know what the CFM of mine is, but its not awesome, nor does the ghetto shroud cover all of the stock Vic radiator (about 85%). And I've never had it go over 205 on a 105 degree day, sitting on I64 for 1 hour cranking the AC.

There are some pics of mine on here.
It's composed of a 97 Lincoln TC fan motor and a Napa cheap fan shroud.

Second thought, that is like 4 inches thick, yeah go with a second pusher fan in front. lol

Can you get an OE fan to work like one off of a FWD Lincoln Continental 3.8L? They flow quite a bit cfm, but perhaps are too thick.

well, im using a fan from a Taurus... and the motor sticks back so far i had to off center it.. cause it was dangerously close to the water pump pulley. moves lots of air though.

If it were me, I would put an electric water pump in. More clearance for an electric fan. But that's just me, and I like to spend money for no reason lol.

electric fan and water pump is a nice combo for them hot runnin quarter mile motors, kill the motor and let it cool between runs. i wanna do it.

I would think that an oil cooler would also help.....just a thought.

The juskyard gem fans are: Mk8, 3.8 taurus, then 3.0 taurus (wont fully cover the rad tho)

I think the 3.8 Continental fans are the same as the 3.8L Taurus. I had them side by side. Lots more continentals in my local yard than 3.8 taurii.
