    shift kit... accm help...

alright guys please excuse my stupidity here... anyway im putting in my transgo shift kit today and ive just now run into a problem. im at the part with the "smart act accm system". on the 1-2 Accum. i took off the plug on the end and the spring behind it. then there is the accm valve inside there and i can see a spring behind it. on the instructions it says im supossed to discard that spring if the vb has it... well it has it so i need to take it out... but i CANT get the accm valve out to take out the spring :cuss: i can push it in and it comes back out to its original position but man i cant get it to come out any farther. is there some kinda trick to get it out or am i just an idiot??? and if i cant get it out would it be ok to just leave it in and not discard that spring behind it and continue on putting the additional springs into it? this is the regular aod shift kit here not the HP one. thanks alot :slug:

I have the same shift kit (haven't installed it yet) looking throught the booklet, I don't see anything about a clip or anything in there holding it in. There might be a clip or something in there to keep it from shooting out when you take the plug out. Someone will chime in with a definitive answer you though.

ok on that picture there my valve body has an extra spring on the other side of the 1-2 accum valve. in my instructions it says that if my vb does have that spring, to discard it. but i cant get to it because i cant get that 1-2 accum valve to come out of the valve body. its stuck :chainsaw:

Are you absolutely sure it has the spring? Have you tried pushing the accum. valve in, and seeing if it moves in? Just throwing out some stuff to help you out, since we be there with you to take a look at it.

I found a good pic of the VB to look at, you might be able to take a small slotted screwdriver, and work the accumulator out by sliding the screwdriver into the slots circled in red. The booklet suggests it for the Orofice control plug, it should work for the accumulator valve.

The valve is just stuck in the bore. it can be a PITA, but it will come out eventually, keep trying.

On my install of the hp kit, I had one stuck too. What I did was I took a big drift and smacked it with a hammer light but sharply and it came out. It will come ot with a little help.
