    annoying wiper noises

I've never noticed how friggin annoying my wipers are. Towards the lower part of thier stroke they actually skip across the glass. The blades aren't that old, but it also hasn't rained in a while so I guess it might just be time for new ones. They do a fine job of clearing the glass though. Are the two-blade ones any better, or does anyone have suggestions on fixing the skipping problem? The noise it makes drives me nuts after a while.

    Thanks.

make sure that the wiper arms are parallel with the glass, there was an article in popular mechanics last month about that

Wax your windshield, and then armorall the wiper blades, then go back with some rubbing alcohol and clean the blades.

then why do trico blades come with an alcohol pad to clean the blades?
Maybe the largest wiper manufacturer is on crack and doesnt know WTF they are doing.

Well, why does alcohol fuck up neoprene seal on carbs? :drug:

Also the same reason you dont use your wipers much with rain-x cause the alcohol will mess up your wipers...

you are aware there are different types of alcohol, right?

Normal rubbing alcohol, in small quantities, does NOT damage rubber because it evaporates quickly. it also cleans all the crap off the edge of the wiper blade.

there are also different types of rubber, neoprene is one.

Alcohol has a very low boiling point and is water soluble, when you apply rain-X the alcohol evaporates very quick.

The alcohol is used to clean the excess armorall off the blades. If you do not use the alcohol then you will have nice oil streaks caused by the excess armorall on the blades.

Alcohol will only affect natural rubber blades. The composite types are ususally uneffected by alcohol.

I'll check and see if the arms are paralell to the glass. They probably aren't. I need to pop the driver's side one off and rotate it down a spline anyway. It taps the trim at the edge of the glass. Its a new wiper transmission, so its not an issue of excess play, just a minor adjustment. I might just throw some new blades on there. The ones on it are probably 3-4 months old so I guess I can spring for new.
