Newbie Exhaust

I currently have 2 Thrush Turbo mufflers (14" long shells, 18" total) and 2 Thrush Turbo glasspacks (25" long) laying on the floor, and all the piping for both. So I'm wondering, what shall I run - glasspacks or mufflers? It'll be a dual exhaust exiting on the sides of the car right in front of the rear wheels, and hopefully tonight on the way home I'll be listening to a whole new sound array

Update: well, my exhaust is done, ended up using the glasspacks as they were easier to install (remember, I'm not a good welder). Unfortunately when measuring the angle for the sidepipes I made a mistake, so now the exhaust rides like 3" below the car's frame - not too bat, but quite annoying to look at, especially knowing I could have done it right if I were a little more careful... guess that's what you get for working on the car in the middle of the night. Will reweld it some day, but now I'm tired and sick of it and I'm going to sleep.

No, its only a single muffler but i was thinking about splitting it into a dual exhaust. My friend said i should put a flow master on it, but i imagine thats a little more expensive.

yeah, the glasspack would go in place of the stock muffler. Personally I dislike the sound of them and would highly reccomend something else, maybe super turbos or something. Do you have dual exhaust on this car?

Thanks for the information. I assume that you cut the old muffler out and then weld the glass pack in its place, right? Thanks.

Glass packs with a 460 will be LOUD!!!! I had a 72 Polara Police car I bought from a guy that had installed glass packs on it... it was soo loud it gave me a headache driving home... they came off, and some Plymouth Hemi mufflers went on in their place... nice decent rumble, and low restriction... but flowmasters are now the thing for that!!!

They should be around 20 bux a piece. Shouldnt be too hard to install. And I hate you because your car kicks way more ass than mine.

When I did my first exhaust on GL, I got my glasspacks at Schucks (aka checkers on the east coast) and they were around $17 each. Don't know how the install would be on a 77, crawl under there and take a look. I bought all new pipe and stuff when I did mine, to start off fresh.

I just bought a 77 GM with a 460. That engine purrs good already and i was wondering how much better it would sound with glass packs. Also, how much do glass packs cost and how hard are they to install.
