It was a 90 grand marquis. The tranny yoke works and the length is good. The one that bolts to the pinion flange is goofy.

lets not forget 90' Town Cars were the bastard childs for the new parts. It could be that driveshaft is 91+ panther spec.

I saw an article by a guy who swapped one into his box, he had to use the box yoke and a special U joint in the rear to mate the shaft to the box yoke.
Dont ask me for that part number though....

Too lazy and its not that important. My u joints are good and the steel shaft I have is a stronger than stock aftermarket piece. Weighs at least twice what the aluminum does.

Just swap 'em. That's what I did with mine...I had to because I didn't get the flange.

It dont fit. Length is the same but the yoke that bolts to the pinion flange is way bigger. Cant even see the bolt holes. So if you pull one at the yard, get the flange too.

Scott posted that pic, man, Id love to find a aluminum shaft for my towny. I want to see how much a custom one is. Were there even any stock aluminum shafts on TCs anyway? Once spring rolls around I want to hit up this yard out in bfe see what they have.

Just curious, do the Vic driveshafts have a rubber isolater ring around the front yoke? The one out of xxx's TC has an arrangement just like an engine's harmonic balancer with a rubber isolated steel ring around the front yoke area. My car doesn't have this, but I also have fatter U joints because of the tow package.
:stupid: Someone posted one up here a couple months ago

The wheelbase is about 3" longer. What that means for the underside is at least a longer tailshaft/tranny and driveshaft, anything else im not sure

I don't believe it is. It is my experience that the tai shaft to the tranny is longer. But it could be the difference in length could be split between the driveshaft and tranny tailshaft, but I know for a fact that the TC tranny tailshaft is longer.

Is the towncar longer? Id be willing to sell it but shipping would be high.

If it's out of a vic and going in a vic it'll fit fine.
