need advice on gasket and crank seal installation

hey guys, I need some advice on the best way to do the crank seal and the timing cover gaskets. I want them to be done right and last a long time. I read the instructions and it says use grease on the crank seal, and don;'t install without break-in sealant?? Clear things up for me if ya could mangs thanks!

Just smear some assembly lube or wheel bearing grease on the end of the crankshaft so its lubricated before installing it else the first time you fire the motor off it'll destroy that seal.

Not quite sure what "break in sealant" is. For stuff like that I use either a non-hardning brush on sealer or something like high-tack which is just a glue to hold gaskets in place during assembly. The non-hardning sealant might be sold as aviation grade sealer. Its a funky smelling brown sticky goop in a bottle with a brush-on cap. Once you paint up gaskets its a real bitch to get them off but it does do a pretty decent job of sealing things up and keeping gaskets in place.
