Anybody have any experience with the o-ringed thermostat housings?

Has anyone used one? If so, did you like it, or did you go back to using a normal gasket? I'm thinking before I go hog wild on hoses, I'd pick one up, if reviews are favorable of course.

chrome housings are teh evil and leak like a pig over time. IIRC I had an Oringed one on me chebby for a year or two but it leaked. I put a good ol iron housing on there and never leaked a drop since.

I know justin ran an o-ring one for awhile, never complained..

But of course, working in a parts store, I heard a lot from my customers, ASE certified mechanics

when i first did my carb swap we used a chrome water neck from the parts store that used an o-ring seal. I've reused it a few times and its held up fine, no leaks.

RIP Jason P Harril, we'll miss ya bro

I've had generally poor luck with shiny bolt-on crap like that. Drop the stocker in a bead blaster and it'll be fine. Or just wire brush it and paint with aluminum spray paint.

I dont wanna have to change it back, that bypass hose is a bitch! I might as well replace it if I do, its going on 6 years old.

Yeah, replace the bypass hose when you do the t-stat. Screw trying to get that thing off there, just hack it and be done. They're cheap enough. Put a bit of that synthetic super lube stuff in the end of the hose and it'll make it easier to get apart next time.
