    Speed Density to Mass Airflow...

What is involved in swaping speed density to mass airflow setup?

I'm assuming pcm and maf from a maf vehicle, correct?

    For info:

All air/fuel intake and control systems are from a 1987 Ford Mustang GT.

Yep. Will also need the MAF harness and a couple spare pins from another 60 pin PCM connector. You also need to tap into the speed sensor wiring. It's actually pretty easy to do. I did a conversion on a mustang.

The '87 Mustang GT had Speed Density from the factory.

Yup yup, 87 is SD. Probably someone did a mass air conversion on it. Iff'n you want some details on the swap, here you go: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00077.html

Thats for a Mark VII, but same idea. ECM is in a different spot is all.

It's not difficult... I converted my car in about 2 hrs. if you already have factory Cruise control, you wont have to mess with the speed sensor part.
you will need a MAF ECM, Mustang unit is the easiest to find, but I hear 91-93HO t-bird/cougar units work, MAF sensor and MAF conversion harness

you will loose the cruise control since its intregrated in the ECM on the CV/GM
you also need some sort of air intake to bolt the MAF up to, I used a Mustang CAI that worked with the MAF I had.

          my original article with pictures
Finally got my conversion done and the car runs better, but still needs some tuning since I used a 80MM MAF sensor from a mark 8 thats calibrated to 24lb injectors and I am running 19lb injectors. Basically you have to add 3 wires, move 2 wires and splice into and solder together 4 wire…

His cruise controle is not integrated. I have MAF and have not lost cruise control. 92 Cougar ECU. Older panthers have a sepperate module.

Right... I forgot older cars don't have intergrated cruise. a simple check to find out which you have.... 3 wires on the cruise servo = intergrated cruise, 6 wires on the cruise servo = non-intergrated/stand alone cruise.

88 and newer were integrated. 87 and older are stand-alone.

Well, if the 87 is stock and you want to convert your car to mass air....you need to find a newer car. The 87 DID NOT have MASS AIR.
