Yeah, CTS. I replaced mine, took care of a lot of the idle shit but its still not quite right. Not been able to find any vacuum leaks, but its still low according to the guage. I'm getting close to the point where I start replacing random semi-related things in the hopes of finding a bad part. Next up is a new balancer so I know the timing is correct.

Can I test it like I would the IAC (unplug it while running)
Actually I did test the CTS when it was bad. When it was plugged in, if I tapped the gas, the engine would surge for a couple of seconds then return to idle. When I unplugged it, the engine idle was noticeable lower and when I tapped the gas it returned to idle right away the way it should have.

I agree, my car did the same thing when I ran it with a bad coolant temp sensor. It would idle high, surge at stop lights, and stall out constantly when I put it into reverse (usually when I was parallel parking). This happened on warm days also, when it was cool out or cold it would be ok.

Its right next to the distributor, just be careful getting it out since I broke mine taking it out.

I check the IAC too since I had similar problems when it went bad right after I replaced the CTS.

started a topic weathers warming up.. idle problems back

weathers warming up.. idle problems back

last year I tried solving this mystery, but had little luck.. than winter came and I didnt have the problem.

Whats happening (depending on the temp) my engine will idle extremely high.. than when in gear it will accelerate its self constantly.. than once it warms up it will be the opposite and will die out if im stopped for to long.. or if I put in reverse.

Last summer I changed my IAC, and checked my TPS.. I couldnt find any vacuum leaks (Didnt look very hard)..

So now im confused becuase its seems to be completely temperature related.. It was very very rare I had the engine running long enough in the winter (dont drive very far often) that I Would experiance problems.

    Any ideas?

p.s. (glad to be back to this site, had a long stretch with no internet.. didnt post alot when I was around the first time.. lets fix that )
Working...
