You could just remove the lock from your foot brake, and it will function the same way...

They did this for the Dukes Of Hazzard chargers....

It could work, would take some fab work, but it's doable. BUt it would be easier to just work with teh foot brake

Holy shit, thats a good idea! I'm afraid to drive my car like that tho. I'll do a burnout here and there, maybe a doughnut but thats it. Sliding through corners tho, my car has too much body roll, not to mention I have a pretty high tire profile.

Its really beyond easy to disable the lock. Hell, the factory had a system in place to do it for you. Just connect that vacuum motor to straight engine vaccum and you're set. Or wire tie the lever where the vac motor attaches to keep it from latching.

Actually, if the car is in drive. The brake shouldn't lock at all....but just taking the ratchet lock off would make a nice foot brake..

Why do you need a hand brake? Hand brakes while driving are for front wheel drive cars. With rear wheel, just romp it and rip the ass end loose.
As far as body roll, drifting was mastered by the guys racing OLD Mustangs, Camaros, and even earlier than that. The suspension technology back then sucked ass. If they could do it, you can do it. It's not that hard. It's not like the thing is going to roll over sideways.

Go watch the vid of the Falken Tires 69 camaro...it's got a handbrake. So does every other RWD drift car that I've seen. I'm assuming it makes it easier to get into the slide than throwing the car sideways then gunning it. They lock the rear brakes and get it sliding then hit the gas once its sideways....at least thats how it looks...

I prefer the stomp the gas pedal and turn the wheel method. Works well in parking lots around the country. Got a few compliments from friends following me one night. And that was before and sway bar mods.
