    Gurgling noise???

When I first start my '91, I have had a gurgling noise, or like water running around inside a body panel.... but can't find any clue of a leak anywhere... It is over by the passenger side of the car, under the dash... like the heater core is half full or something.... and it is sloshing around... NO leaks, the coolant is topped off... It has done this for some time.... wondering if anyone elses box has done this... and maybe a cure??? Like I said, the heater core is fine (thank god) And it doesn't leak on the floor inside or under the car, doesn't lose coolant.... i am at a loss... doesn't seem to hurt anything... just gets on your nerves when you first start driving it... about a mile, it goes away... until you start it up again, and start driving... Even my girlfriend, who is the LEAST mechanically inclined person I know, has asked what that noise is!!!!

You're on to it, I think. I'm guessing there may be some air in the cooling system. Have you "purged" the system of air by running it with the rad. cap off at 2k rpm? It's just a thought. Air bubbles would definitely cause the sound.

My dad's '64 F250 does the same thing. His is the heater core. No problems with it ever in the ten years we've owned it. Doesn't leak or loose coolant. Temp is cool always, usually around 160. It will also cook you with heat. It usually makes the noise when you bring up the rpms a little too high to take off (it's a manual), but doesn't do it when rolling down the road at 60mph with 4.56's and no overdrive.

        I'd say air bubbles too.

My 87 used to make the same noise after a minute or two when starting it up for the first time. I assumed it was just coolant moving through the heatercore and I never experienced a leak or loss of coolant. It's probably nothing to worry about.
