    Injector Experiment

I was bored this morning so I yanked off the upper intake and swapped in my old 14lb injectors to see what would happen with an otherwise stock HO engine. The result was eh, nothing. lol The car can't manage to idle for more than a few seconds and I didnt even bother leaving the driveway. So onto gears for a extra mile or two per gallon.

Do you think I would pick up anything by pulling my 14s and installing the 19s?

You need the extra air to need the extra fuel 19's would deliver. In addition, the ECM program is written with 19# pulse width in mind, not 14#, so as Tom mentioned, it'll run like turds.

nitroracer, sorry to hijack the thread.

What about the mid HO conversion? Are 19 lb. injectors required when you do the intake, throttle body and EGR spacer or should I stick with the 14's?

NA, no leave the 14's unless you swap the computer.

NA, i can answer for you. you dont need to switch to the 19 lb injectors if youre just doing the HO upper intake, TB and all that. i think the only time you have to go to the bigger injectors is if you use an HO cam and computer. look here http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthre...er+gains+basic

scroll down to 88grandmarq's post and see what he says. there is somebody else on here that is running a "mid-ho' conversion, but i think he has the e7 heads also plus intake and TB. i think his car was in a wreck or something though..... sorry im not sure who it is, i just remember seeing that he did that mid-ho.

You have to use injectors that match the perameters input into the computer.
If you use the 5.0 HO computer with the 5.0 the injector wires need to be changed at the computer connection. I think its 3 and 7 ..... 4 and 6.

With the 5.0HO cam and computer nothing needs to be done with the injector leedss but somme otheree wires need changed or added if your switching to Mass Air. I would have to look up some stuff to be shure of what.

The wires do not need to be changed when doing an HO swap. Just change the ECM. No wiring changes needed.

Only time you need those 19 lb injectors is with the HO cam/ECM. You can run e7 heads on a lopo with the original cam and ecm, and it runs fine with 14 lb injectors. It would probably be more ideal with standard 14 lb injectors and just a smidge more fuel pressure to get a little extra fuel into the mix.

I did the Intake/TB upgrade on my old lopo and got great results. I ran 16.03 with a stock lopo longblock with the HO upper, TB, and bored out EGR. 14lb injectors..

Mixing ECM's and Injectors is a bad idea...I already tried it years ago. Doesn't work.....

The cam dosent matter which injectors you run I have run both cams with the GM ECM and both cams with the HO ECM. The GM ECM is programed for 14# injectors. The HO is programed for 19# injectors. I have injector spec charts for Fords and there are no other ones that swap.
My blue Merc ran the HO TB, 19# injectors, GM cam, HO ECM with Mass Air, modified Merc upper intake and EGR spacer.

I have also, but without mass air. Didn't make much of a difference. The bigger fuel pump did more for the power than the injectors/HO ecm on the lopo did.

There are some issues with the fuel rails not suppling even fuel distribution to each cylinder.

I noticed that also. The bigger fuel pump I put in helped out a bit. I ran a 110 mustang pump.

Are there aftermarket fuel rails that would solve that issue?
