    Car is messed up

My tranny is actin weird. It is very reluctant to downshift, even when I floor it, and it sometimes will shift into neutral when I try to speed up. My car also dies on me at random moments, but mainly when I'm at idle. This car is really starting to annoy me, and I don't have the time or money to fix its numerous problems. I think I'm gonna have to sell it and get another car, maybe a newer Vic. Or a truck, I like trucks.

Shift into neutral? Its probably not going into neutral, the tranny is probably slipping and not shifting into the next gear, just revving the engine up high. Check the TV cable and the TV bushing, if its broken or disconnected it will kill the tranny. Don't drive the car until you checked it first and either drop the tranny pan yourself or take it to somewhere to do it. Sometimes a tranny flush and filter change makes enough difference if the tranny isn't toast. Just a filter and fluid change stopped slow downshifts and over revving in second gear in my car.

The car will not shift properly if its not running properly also. If it stalls out alot, scan for codes, clean or replace the IAC valve and check the egr valve.

I hate to say it but it sounds like tv cable to me (speaking from experience). Check this immediately. If its misadjusted let alone come off it will kill your tranny if you keep driving. Lokar part KD-2AODHT ($60) fixes this. Hope you didn't kill you tranny.

I'm having the same problem, but my car doesn't stall out. The tranny shop isn't open until Tuesday.
