Front splitter

there is a thread over on CVN about a 98+CV body kit.


Now the body kit is not that great, but the front bumper looks like it would be a very effective splitter. Remove the driving lights and put in some brake ducting. Would be pretty simple. Just need a sheet of aluminum, and a guy i know has a small metal working shop where he builds his race car bodies. maybe make it removable with some Dzus fasteners. Might even build a diffuser under it.

On corral, the trick with the stangs is a ranger/explorer splitter. I was thinking about an f150 one on the wagon....but I don't think I am gonna bother.

The sheet of aluminum/plastic is a good idea for a track duty car though.

A splitter like that does add more frontal area, but it helps to reduce drag by preventing air from going under the car. The underside of most cars is very dirty aerodynamically, a splitter pushes the air around the car. Id also try to run a diffuser that extended 2-3" in front of it and turned up into the wheel wells.

Yup, it would work good. I don't think I could be seen on the street with it though. For a track/very very light street duty car it'd be great.

I'd like a 2 door or sedan that I could make an all out racer...

I was thinking about getting another cover from the junkyard and test fitting on that. Maybe mount the cover with some Dzus' to facilitate quick changes. a normal one for street, another for track/highway use.

Take a hint from the Japanese tuners they use an airflow chamber to make them. And having the splitter hang out in front 3-4 inches is a good idea it will catch the air and help push the car down...Which is what we all want
