Check your nuts! Found one of the shaft bolts loosened almost to the point of falling off. I'm going to replace the nuts with new locknuts. I pulled it off and dumped most of my loctite on it an tightened it back up.

Ouch! Glad to see you caught it before something catastrophic happened. What do you think would have caused that to happen?

get some all metal lock nuts. No fear of the nylon inserts failing.
FYI never use nylock nuts on exhaust collectors.http://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

Oh, yeah I forgot to mention that. Need to put loc-tite on them. Mine were doing that too. Apparently you're supposed to replace the jam nuts any time thats apart. Let me know what the size and thread is on those if you'd be so kind. I want to replace mine too. One on the other side is starting to work its way loose. I've had to run it back down a couple times now. Keep forgetting to get more loc-tite.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I don't know when I'll be able to get the size, hoping that Scott will have something apart soon. I'm thinking that they are 1 time use locknuts...I put a ton of loctite on mine, but they still will have to be replaced.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

Never use a nylock near heat or on a oily/rusty bolt. Doing any of those things just compromises the system. Never use a nylock nut purchased at the local hardware store to hold any thing together except maybe the garage door. In fact, never use a nylock to hold together any critical component. A much better choice is to use what is referred to as a prevailing torque nut (sometimes called a stover nut). This is a nut that is "pinched" at the top and uses a very tight interference fit to lock the nut in place. We have all run into these at one time or another and wondered why the d%$* nut wouldn't come loose until it got to the end of the bolt. These nuts are single use only and should be tossed when dissassembeled (btw never reuse lockwashers)http://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

As we mentioned in all the other posts, no idea on the thread size. Yes, it's a nut (check out the pic in the first post) The nut on the right side of the pic is nearly falling off.
Putting a sleeve in the setup would be nice. Would take care of the issues. Could just tighten the nut up against the sleeve. As it is, the nut just gets tightened to a certain point and that's it.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

Well if you notice there's just a couple minutes difference between Thain's post, yours, and mine, so I was actually typing together with you guys. And I looked at the pic, that's way I asked about the nut, cause you said it was nut that got loose.Originally posted by mrltdAs we mentioned in all the other posts, no idea on the thread size. You mean you don't have any sleeves on your shafts? My kit came with sleeves, and the nuts that hold my upper control arms to the shafts are bottomed out to metal (said sleeves actually), I made damn sure I tighten them good so they won't come loose... Or did I read you wrong?Putting a sleeve in the setup would be nice. Would take care of the issues. Could just tighten the nut up against the sleeve. I didn't assemble mine, Scott did. he said there weren't any sleeves, you just tightened up the nut. I don't know if there is a stop (or it bottoms out) Because I didn't have it apart. I guess I need to get some more info on the shaft. Sorry if I came off a bit harsh...Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons
