Wagon springs not giving you enough rake?

You can use coil-over kits to make your rear ride heigth adjustible, up to 6"

This is a coil-over mounting kit.



How to:
First you will have to have some welding done.

you would weld the threaded tube to the center of your lower spring perch. The factory pig tail and coil-over springs share the same diameter 2.5"
Then you install your spring. you can then adjust the new perch up and down till your content. These are available up to 7" high. You do not want to run it all the way u7p because the spring could pop out during long suspension travel.

Im going to run these so that i can use coil-over springs. They are available in a wide range of rates and are reletively cheap.

Have you thought about standard coilovers? I was thinking of using a chevelle kit on the front and some generic ones on the rear....

in the rear the only advantage of running coil-overs is the compact unit. Due to the placement of our shocks and springs we already have almost all the handeling benefits of a coil-over. For the front the 67-69 Camaro kit would most likely work.

BoxMan - I doubt it would work in the front, the suspension would not allow for that much lift, without sitting on the bumpstops. On top of that the springs would not work, they are 5.5" diameter.

Camaro set might work, the lower arms will need some reinforment around the mounting points. The chevelle kits I've seen are pretty cool and come with a lower mounting plate that sits in the spring bucket on the lower arm. The also have progressive spring rates for a comfortable ride....I'd prefer straight rates though for racing.

The chevelle kits I've seen also used a cone shaped spring that was the same diameter on the top and uses the spring bucket on the top, and the lower is on the shock. pretty neat setup. Kinda pricey though. If I ever decide to spend the cash, I'll have to do a bunch of calculations to figure out the correct spring rate....

The nicest thing about using coilovers on a panther is unlike most other cars, none of the shocks have to rotate. No bearings and clunking.

Yup the adjusters run about $40 each. coil-over springs are around $50. so for under $200 you can have a rear suspension with an adjustible ride height and a wide selection of springs.

You could lower it, but you are limited by the control arms hitting the frame. If you were able to notch the frame and give the lower arms a place to go then you could slam it.

I ordered the mounts and a set of springs. the springs are 10" tal;l and a 425# rate. Ill try to get them in next weekend, but i might not have the time. Ill post pics and my result.
