I used a punch to drive out the center of the rivet, then I drilled it out. Works easier than a cutoff wheel. Getting those stupid motors in the right position to get them out with the Z shaped end is a b*tch. I always had problems with them getting stuck in the window guide. We installed those same motors on the SuperLinc, no issues so far. -

door lock solenoid install (and consumer report)
Another member here mentioned these cheap door lock motors - $12 plus $9 shipping... well I took the leap and got one.
This is the cheap universal kind that has the 6 different rods for different applications, but it plugs right in to the wiring.
The correct length rod has the double bend in it... my 85 only has one bend making an 'L' shape. From different door panels Ive been in, it seems like older boxes have the L end like mine, newer ones have the double bend end.
I was able to make this one work... the plastic thing that clips the rod in place in the lock lever hole was gone, but the extra bend keeps the rod in the hole.
My old one was loose in its rivet, so I went ahead and replaced the bracket too. Scarred up my door jamb with the cuttoff disk...
ordering some silver POR paint to dab on that.
Also had to file out the hole in the new bracket a little bit to get the rivet in... didnt need much with a tapered hole file.
Working great so far... Ill take some pics before I put the door panel back on.
One thing I really like about this one is the thick rubber boot. Stock ones are thin and often torn, and water is a big enemy to our interior door panel residents.
