does disabling any of the emissions equipment affect how the cfi operates? reason i'm asking and ya'll think i'm insane, christine is getting a new lease on life. fuck rust , i'll fix it. her body needs work, driveline for the most part is fine, but i don't have the cash to rebuild the tranny for shifty9i( refuse to put in a tranny without a rebuild) and i don't have money for a carb conversion. i want to totally disbale the emissions. cats, everything. but can i say disable the pcv system and the egr system without fucking up the cfi? or does the cfi, the unholy little shit it is, need those two to function properly? any ideas, suggestions, criticisms, physchiatric reccomendations, i wanna hear them?

YOU CAN DOO EEEEEEETT!!!
Ive driven with my egr inop and noticed no difference. Only thing id worry about disabling the PCV is might change the vacuum slightly. Ive had plently of vauum leaks and it ran, so all you might sacrifice is fuel economy... maybe.
Also theres the evap system... I havent fooled with that. But Im sure it can be done away with.
smog pump for sure can go - along with the heat riser flapper thing.
If your doing that, then you can get rid of all but the small round solenoid on the valve covers too... even relocate it and get chrome valve covers.
I thought about doing all this, I even bid on a EGR blockoff plate, but i chickened out.
one question though, do you have state inspections? lolPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

i got state inspections, but they only test emissions on 96 and up. 95 and below is a vuisual but every shop merely checks for cats and mufflers if that and if the car is old enough, they only check the safety related stuffSave a seal, club a liberal.

i think the one i saw was 15 bucks... it was for a 5.0 mustang but Im pretty sure it would work. the flange for a MPFI vic and CFI vic EGR look almost the same.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Its some valve thats under the drivers exhaust manifold, a vacuum hose runs to it. Part of some stupid cold start warm up thing. Mines gone, I have manifolds from a 86...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

When the engine is cold vacuum closes the valve and redirects all the exhaust from that side back through the head and through chambers in the intake manifold to warm up the air coming in to help warm the car up quicker. I never noticed a difference when I pulled my manifolds off and put the HO headers on. All you have to do is pull and plug the vac line to the valve and it will stay open no matter what.

Leave the PCV system. Losing it will probably make shit leak oil more. It doesn't hurt performance or anything anyway. And the air tube from the air cleaner down to the exhaust is the heat stove which is supposed to make it warm up faster. The flapper thing in the exhaust is (I think) on the driver's side. Its probably that thing that rattles like hell when you let off the throttle. You'll actually see a rod sticking out of the side on the manifold with a little linkage to a vacuum servo thing. Not needed and the fucking rattling noise they all make is ANNOYING.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

got a little bit done today.i got the piece off that has the hose that goes up to air cleaner assembly. i got the air pump removed. the pulley was a fucking bitch to get off even with the help of a friends puller. almost knocked the car off the fucking jacks. i got one more bracket to remove where the ac compressor woulda sat. the previous owner had removed the compressor, reasons unknown. now for some questions.
i'm deadset on bypassing the pcv system, but how can i do that when the line coming off the valve looks like it goes into the bottom of the cfi assembly, or the top of the intake-lighting sucked so it was hard to tell. i want to bypass the heater core, but how do i do that if theres a line going fom the core to the waterpump
sorry for the n00b like questions but i learned 98% of what i know on the efi 5.0 not the cfi 5.0,lolSave a seal, club a liberal.

you'd just have to cap odd the PCV nipple on the CFI unit and get a breather in the valve cover somehow.
To bypass the heater core you just put the two hoses together... is yours leaking???? you might want some heat up there in the winter!Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

grrr, the past 2 hours have not been fun. i got stung twice, snapped my ratchet in two, and was correct about before. the frame is rotting. when i first made the assumption i hadn't really looked. unfortunately my digicam is mia so no pics. i really fucking loathe myself sometimesSave a seal, club a liberal.

why loathe yourself??? you couldnt help christine from rotting - it was probaby too fargone before you parked it. Now swap the tranny into shifty!
oh, and if you were going to bypass the core, join the two hoses coming off the engine into a loop. So the line out of the water pump will go into the intake. Or it might be the other way around, lolPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
