    Finally dyed my dash!

    I went down to summit to grab some msc parts and decided to try VHT Vinyl dye. I matched the color to the burgandy with a piece of my old dash and it was almost exact. So I bought it, and gave it a shot. It turned out great. I took my time with it and I have no runs,drips, or fish eye. I gave it three coats and the color is nearly perfect. Its so nice having a clean matching dash now.

    I wanted to try that SEM dye but I couldnt find it anywhere. This stuff works great tho and you can even use it on fabric. I'm gonna try it on my door panel velour and see if it looks as good. I'm hesitant to try it on my seats cause I dont want to stain my clothes.

              looks great!

              1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

                It was a gray dash from my 89 CV parts car, sometimes I wish I hadnt gotten rid of it. I still coulda scavenged some parts off of it.

                  how long did you have to dry before each coat looks great mang

                    It was dry to the touch within 5 mins of each coat.

                      Hey what color did you use? Some of my interior pieces have faded and I would like to use that stuff.

                          Zack, it appears to be the VHT Satin Burgandy - I also used this on my '93 T-Bird's Currant interior. The tops of the rear seats were faded, I lightly applied a few coats of the VHT and they looked like new

                            yep its burgandy. It only comes in satin but it shines up when you put mothers protectant on it.

                            Edit: I havent tried it on upholstery yet, the tops of my door panels are pretty faded so I'm gonna try to get them back when the weather turns nice.
