Ok guys, especially those inquiring about trac loc in different conditions... i have results. As you know i put a 3.73 and trac loc in my 91 GM, and had to put it to the test last night. I beat the SHIT outta my car and tires for you guys, so you better appreciate this post. (actually, it was so much fun, i did it for me!). Anyways.....
Dry pavement. Both squeek a little on hard launch, but it bites. A nice little squeal going around a corner.... with ALOT less "drift" than with the open diff. If i want to slide it around a corner, turn harder and gas it up and it will break loose easily... very easy to regain. Power braking is fun, the car immediately slides to the right. Donuts are super easy and lots of fun. Overall... Its the best thing in the world to do for dry pavement traction.
Wet Pavement. Oh my. Wheel spin around corners is minimal if you are driving easy. Easy launches have minimal wheel spin. Thats all the good things i can say. Last night i was in a parking lot spinnin the tires and it began to rain just a little bit, kinda snuck up on me.... as soon as the ground got just a little wet, and i gave it gas the ass end came around hard and fast... even at a low speed. absolutly no correcting this. once is started coming around i couldnt straighten it for anything. now this was when i was heavy on the throttle. but again, normal driving, its not bad. Final comment, be careful.
Dirt and sand! Wow. Only thing i got to say, is make sure you got good tread and stay away from trees. No final comment.
