    Side vents went away in 82 I think? Its an early model thing, and there aren't so many of those around. I'm not sure on this but I think it may have been an option too.

    351 in an 81 sounds like it may have been a Canadian car originally. If it was a US car, its oddly optioned. I didn't know the 351 was available in 81 on a Merc.

      1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

            Hey man. I like those fender vents. So your into VW's? We had some of those. I must say there great runing cars. I'd like to have one a and put a HO mustang engine in a bug. LOL. I bet it would haul A$$ since the car only ways 900lbs stock. LOL

                Why butcher a perfectly good VW with an HO, when you can build up the VW to easily beat the HO. Ask me how I know.

                The world record for fastest and quickest four cylinder 1/4 mile drag vehicle is held by a type 1 based engine. Its official run is 6.60 @ 203.94 MPH quarter-mile although unofficially the quickest & fastest has been a 6.53 at 209.98 MPH.

                Also, the car weighs slightly over 1800lbs, stock.
