I'm old but new to you - just joined. My mother-in-law gave me her 2002 MGM. It was shipped from CA to me in TN. It had not been driven in over a year. Has 90K miles. When it arrived it had a bad miss at idle and under load. A "knowledgeable" shade-tree mechanic friend took it home for a week. He changed plugs, checked coils (coil-over-plugs), removed and cleaned injectors, changed fuel filter, etc. BTW, it is my understanding you can't really clean injectors without special chemicals and equipment. Anyway, it ran great for about 5 months but all the original symptoms have returned and the CEL stays on and sometimes flashes. I don't have a trouble code yet but have ordered an OBD2 reader. I live in the boonies and it is a 20 mile drive to the nearest one, but I am afraid to drive the car that far. Any ideas? What are the symptoms of a defective EGR valve?
