    Clean looking 1989 Grand Marquis with a blown head gasket in NW OKC - $1250

    Probably could talk the guy down to much less if it does indeed have a blown gasket.



    From the ad: "1989 mercury grand marquis. Very clean in and out. One dent in the drivers side rear quarter. Very comfy ride, ac works great!!! BLOWN HEAD GASKET. Don't have time or want to fix it. 99k original miles. I'm the 3rd owner. Clean green title tags just UPDATED!! TAGS GOOD TILL 2020. 302 Windsor"

    Hopefully it is only a head gasket. Shops around here charge $500 to change those. Hope it isn't a cracked block because the owner kept driving it until it quit or got way too hot.

        Honestly, the newest 5.0 Explorers in junkyards are now 18 years old. Any time I happen upon a 5.0 Explorer in a yard, it's clapped out with >200K miles. They're just not a "drop-in" swap anymore. Still good for the better heads, though.

          Not a drop in, but they're still the newest source of a 302. Mark VII's used to be the commonly cited source but that ended in 1992, Mustangs stopped using them in 1995. Or you just rebuild the block in the car and buy better heads and intake since a high mileage engine needs the heads rebuilt anyway. By the time you do that, its not that far off the cost of something better.

            The primary benefit of the Explorer engine is still that you get the GT40 heads along with it.

              yeah, or you could just buy something better. Unfortunately the P-compatible headers aren't so easy to get anymore so it seriously limits engine donors.
