All the aeros had aluminum hoods and deck lids. Also the 92-94 had the eec4 if I recall correctly. The 95 was the first year to have OBD2 but 95 is unique to 95 and no other PCM will work. I think 96-97 were the same and from there I am not sure. I also believe 92-94 had the AOD tranny and changed to the 4R70w in 95. I may be off a year but I do know by 95 it was 4R70w.

The hood on my 97 G.M. was plastic.

The only Aeros to get the bastard block 4.6 and AOD were early build 92 Vics and Marquii and I think early? 91 Towny's.

It helped get me into the 11s.

Seriously, if it wasn't plastic it was the most pliable shape memory alloy I've ever seen. I'd think yours is the same, look at the edge underneath.

aeros get the best mileage. 98+ has the trans issues pretty well sorted though. aeros (92-95 IIRC) have POS valve seats and tend to burn oil when they get to higher mileage.

my 93 has a rebuilt trans and I just keep the oil topped off. runs like a champ and gets 28 mpg highway and 20-21mpg city.

Well the whales are the fastest ones, but in somr ways I think the Aero looks slightly better IMO. My 98 turns a lot of heads, but if you dont want people thinking your a cop (which some people dont, personally I love it ) then you might wanna steer clear. I get people following the speed limit to the T in front of me, kinda a pain in the ass

95's wont auto-shift into second in first so there good for spinning the tires but the 97 is the last of the aeros, pretty much just the same as a 96 except i dont think heated mirrors were standard and there was no more mercury badge on the a-pillar of the 97's. Id prefer a 97 or an 01, i had a 97 gmq ls.

I like the 95-97 grand marquis's the most then i like the 98-01' second best. I hate the 'unibrow' 92-94's. They have the nicest old school feeling interior though. Its really a tossup, I find the interior of the 95-97's to feel quite a bit nicer then the newer non-leather seats of the 98 and up panthers. I hate the look of all the crown vics from 93-97, that tiny grille and that extra added window make it look ugly and then the back lights dont look near as nice as the gmq's either.
