Noise while turning at full lock.

Every crown Vic or GM I have ever driven has done the same thing, when you turn slowly with the steering wheel is at full lock, it makes a noise like the front coil springs are reseating themselves...does anybody know what the deal is with that?

My '98 does the same thing, a definite noise/bang at full lock....from what I've read it's normal...I've seen pics where you can put a gob of grease on the bump stops on the suspension where it contacts at full lock to dampen the sound.

On the other hand, worn ball joints at full lock can make a similar sound....

Yeah like I said, every one of these I've ever driven does it so I would have to assume is that it's normal. I did inspect the suspension prior to buying mine and the ball joints checked out so I'm not suspecting that as a problem or anything. I just wanted to know what it was that made them do that

yep, its the steering stops. A wad of grease will shut it up.
