    need aero & Whale Transmission primer

    The later boxes were pretty easy. (AOD's) Same for all except Lincoln had the long tail and Mark VII had the HO governor.

    When it comes to the later 4.6 cars what transmissions were offered? Really kind of looking for interchange guidance. Seems my stepson picked up a small limo company.

      Yes I think that does help.

      Interesting to note the civi, HPP and Police all had different trans model numbers within the same year.

      No info on lincoln vs ford or merc, at least that I saw.

      4r70w to 03
      4r75W to at least to 09

      but there seems to be many smaller yr to year changes which may or may not make for an easy swap.

        electrically the 4R splits in 02 as well with the output shaft ring gear sensor (OSS) sensing 24 ridges instead of 6 holes... which is why my 01 PCM has no real problem with my 93 AODE.
