    Not sure if the system needs a working keypad or just one with voltage through it. I would, however, try to get one and replace it anyway. It comes with the harness so it's a relatively easy repair. They have them on EBAY but not sure of the prices. I keep a spare for my '95 and was sure to get a new one - you wouldn't want a used one that could be defective! Bobby

      A new keypad cured the problem and someone put a deposit on the car today pending financing
