    Struggling To Start

So I've encountered an issue where my car is, about 5% of the time, struggling to start when I turn the key.

It'll behave like the battery is dead, cranking slowly, and then just as it seems like the battery is about to lose all power it'll fire up. Then for the next dozen or so start attempts it'll fire up just fine.

Charging system is okay; ammeter shows 13.5V typically while driving around.

Could this be a symptom of the engine going out of time?

Check the timing, could be advanced enough such that it's fighting itself.

Maybe the battery cables or connections? Previous owner of my truck put one of those janky bolt on connectors on the battery cable. Was giving me dead battery symptoms randomly, weak cranking most of the time. Soldered a new end on it and it's been fine ever since.

Alright. It's getting looked over Sunday so whatever the issue is, it'll be ironed out.

          I hope.

And there it is, the failure to start completely.

My guess is the battery is dead. Sometimes they die a quick death. Take the battery to have it tested.

Yeah, I suspect the alternator finally failed to charge the battery sufficiently. Strange that the AMP glowlamp never lit up when I drove it last though.

When I was trying to crank the engine the JEGS console rebooted itself, which was the hint that it was electrical.

I swear, my car hates me.

my car starts and it has AC. Yours doesn't start and it has no AC. Seems obvious to me.
