    cam question for my cougar.

i keep wanting to buy a cam.,
car is a 91 cougar xr7 aod trans with shift kit.
engine is rebuilt 20 over hyper pistons with valve reliefs, mac shorty headers, ported rebuilt e7's, gt40 intake and throttlebody, 1.72 rr's, new everything else bla bla bla the car weighs 3800lbs.

the cam i have now is stock, i had it polished and i have 10 over bearings i bought... so to use a new cam id have to get new bearings. i just want the car to be scary fun.

    ones im looking at

    Comp cam Xe 276 HR roller cam for a ford 5.0 302 347 351 331. (276 int. 282 exh. 224 int 230 exh @50 .544 with 1.7 rocker

    crane compucam 2040 same as a ford motor sport e303 498 int. .498 exh. 220 220 @50

custom lunati roller cam 227 int. 232 exh. .510 int. .534 exh 112 lobe center

ford racing M-6250-F303 Slightly rougher idle than E303. More mid-range and top-end power than E303

One thing to keep in mind--try to get a cam that's 351 firing order. Easier on main bearings.

Any of those should be plenty (the Cobra cam being the mildest). It is a mass-air car, correct?

Stevo1111 on the TCCoA Forums has about your exact setup with an E-cam.

XE264 Comp cam...works well. Lots of low end grunt and great mid range.

          Or stock HO cam

Crane 2031 is a decent cam, as is the Crower 15511, and the 15511 is SD-friendly.

I think I have an E-cam in the Lincoln (I really have no idea, but it's not a stock HO cam) and it's definitely not SD friendly. Car was pig rich at idle because of the 15 or so inches of vacuum it pulls. It's fine as MAF now though.

Is the Cougar MAF or SD? I'm sorry, but I am unfamiliar with the cars.
