In my experience, most chrome stuff is often of marginal quality, and doesn't always fit real well. The chrome cover I put on my S10 was really thin. It doesn't leak but it rusted almost immediately. Its only on there because the stock one rotted through. The Lincoln has a stock late model aluminum 8.8 cover. Its not polished or shiny, and it only replaced the steel one because I already had it. It could be polished up, but I wasn't really interested in making it shiny and attracting attention to the rusty axle it bolts to.

alrighty, i'll keep looking for a descently cheep alumiunm cover and polish it, and if i can't find one i'll pick up a hefty chrome one and keep it clean and waxed. I'm also starting to think the black one on there isn't so bad. we'll see.

      thanks
