    Goo in my oil

I checked the oil on my vic and I found this gooey looking goop it looks foamy. I looked at my oil cap and it was like partially open I thank that air got in or something. My dad told me that it was antifreeze which I hope it isn't

just means ou havent driven the car enough to evaporate the condensation buildup in the engine. you must not make longer drives with your car and without engine warming up right it will do that. the engine needs to warm up and be driven to operating temps to cook out moisture in the engine.

If it isn't black/dark brown, it does sound like antifreeze, which means a gasket somewhere is probably kerfucked.

Maybe try taking it for a longish run and see if it clears up at all after. If it's still there/worse, it may be antifreeze.

Also check if your coolant level is getting lower, which would also indicate an anti-freeze leak.

Not necessarily. The goo can be very light brown when it's just water condensation; I've seen it many times. A leaking head gasket is always a possibility, but it's far less likely than just a simple case of condensation.

Now, this could be caused by one of two things:

        1) As Jim (87_crown_vic) said, if you're often going for short drives where the engine doesn't get fully warmed up, the condensation that naturally gathers in the crankcase won't get pulled off by the PCV system.

        2) The PCV system could also be faulty. How long has it been since the PCV valve was replaced? If this is an EFI car, there's also a screen that should be replaced at the same time, but if your car is carbureted or has CFI, then there's no screen, just the valve. At the same time, it's a good idea to check the PCV valve hose for cracks, or even pluggage.

Check the plastic line coming off the filler neck. I'd always get that gunk under the cap until I cleaned out that line which was pretty much plugged out. Just be careful with it, mine cracked some whe I removed it. No I don't get any stuff under the cap whether or not I take long or short trips.

Go through the vacuum system and make sure its up to temp. I doubt its a head gasket unless the car was really beat on or overheated. These 302s are abuse monsters.

+1 on the PCV system not working properly. The screen gets clogged and then it just doesn't function anymore.

My car has had that crap under the oil cap, and in the dipstick tube, but that was when I lived in town and drove about a mile to work. Car never really warmed up. Now that I drive 25 miles one way to work, its been fine. I'd say its just condensation.
