timing cover gasket at oil pan

After 120000 miles on HO motor in my 91 CV the timing cover gasket started leaking coolant. When I tear it down to change it, I forgot about the metal in the oil pan gasket I put on when I installed the motor. And I ripped the pan gasket getting cover off. Am I going to have to change complete pan gasket because I cant cut it off at block. Im just trying to milk the little bit of life left in her cause the motor wasnt exactley fresh when I put it in.

Where did you rip the gasket, at the piece that goes under the cover, or back further on the flat? If its the front piece, it cuts out cleanly with diagonal cutters and you can use the piece that comes with the timing gasket set along with a little RTV in the corners. I actually have never been able to re-use the one-piece front part and get it in place with the cover. If its the flat stuff on the side, you might be able to RTV it up if it won't cut cleanly.
