    Let's Get WILD

I have a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis LS (it says hello) with a 351W 5.8L.

It was suggested to me that I should put a 4 barrel carbeurator on it and a high performance intake manifold.

Now, I was toying with the idea of getting supreme power, but not going too nuts with it.

    What sort of:
    - intake
    - carbeurator
    - pie
    - heads
    - whatever else I am not thinking of

    ...should I get?

    Thanks.

When you're looking for performance you need to think intake side as well as exhaust side. Doing just one or the other won't get you much of an improvement. A engine needs to breathe as well as exhale. Which can get expensive depending on what you decide to do.
The best "bang for the buck" is a simple rear end swap, better gears!!

Having said that, those 86 model 351 heads leave a lot to be desired. I know there are many good heads to choose from. But if you're on a budget and want to stay with factory original heads 69-70 351W or late model gt-40 heads are pretty good.

Hmm, I hadn't considered the exhaust side.

I have an upgrade dual exhaust system that came with the car, although I think the catalytic converters need replacement.
