    torque converter install

    My B&M converter arrived today
Has anyone here changed the converter before in an AOD? Is this straight forward or can it be difficult? Any handy tips would be appreciated. The engine is out of the car, but the trans is not.

pop and swap. Just make sure the converter is fully seated on all 3 sets of splines. You'll have to rotate it to get it engaged, you'll feel when it drops in fully. Also, drain the converter out before you pull it, or the trans blood will go everywhere. Theres a drain plug on the front of the stock converter.

Look up the install depth on the net that way you know how far in the bellhousing the converter will be when fully seated.

well you drop trans. drain all fluid, take new converter put 4qts of mercv in install on trans spin around a couple of time it should click into place , make sure converter is all the way back, put safty wire across trans so converter doesnt fall out, install trans make sure to cut wire befor you mate trans to block . yup fairly staright forward, oh yeah youll need 15 qts of merc v tranny fluid
doh i didnt read that engine was outta the car, yup just drain all you fluid, put 4 qts in converter, and install

B&M recommends adding one quart to the converter then install it. If i do this how will the rest of the fluid get in the converter with out damaging it? If i fill the converter with more than a quart wont it spill out?
