power steering pump

Is any play in the pulley normal? None on the alternator, none on the water pump, none on the crank pulley (dear god I would hope not), but I can wobble the power steering pulley around a little bit. Don't have a dial indicator to see just how much play but if there's enough to feel it by hand, is the pump on its way south? I am assuming so.



AFAIK the pump is original. Worked fine last time I drove the car before winter.

from what i've seen from working on stuff I've seen them have a little bit of play but not a whole lot. how bad is it?

They all have play, even brandy new ones. Or so I'm told.

Not bad. It's enough to notice when you grab the pulley and try to move it, but it wasn't making any noise when it was running.
