Your weight distribution is probably because of those batteries. I seriously doubt its that close to even in stock form. Curb weight on my Townie is 4046, but I know it weighs more. I've added the nicer seats, plus theres the bigass speaker box in the trunk.

Originally posted by Chachii weighed my car today . it weights 4156 lbs . 52% in front and 48% in the rear . if you get smoked by an import power to weight ratio has nothin to do with it!!

I wish you two kids the best.
Did you ever find out why your car was only making about 100 whp on the dyno?
Back to the topic. I HATE import cars, but I keep close tabs on them. Part of that "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
, bullshit. I have a subscription to Sport Compact Car magazine, I watch the 2Fast2Furious crowd and respect any car making 100 hp per liter of displacement. So I know an import with a big intercooler in the bumper probably has a bad ass turbo setup under the hood. You realize a 5.0L panther car following their rules would make 500 hp, not just 150 hp? The Ford 4.6L cars would come with more than 400 hp from the factory if their were designed over there. Let's take the '05 RSX Type-S for example. It's got a curb weight of 2800 lbs., airbags, ABS, computers, etc. The car still makes about 100 hp per liter of displacement. It has a compression ratio of 11.0:1 and a redline of over 8000 rpms on a 2.0L. I think I read somewhere the '06 Civic will have a 200 hp engine, six speed tranny and a limited-slip diff. If you completed the HO conversion (225 hp at the crank) on your Panther car, you would still lose to an RSX in a drag race. Say the panther weighs in at 4000 lbs. The Acura has 1200 lbs. less weight to move off the line. The differences between FWD and RWD would even the race a bit, but my money would be on the RSX winning the race. I had a teacher in shop tell us there was no way a FWD system would last behind an engine making more than 400 hp. I proved him wrong finding a Chevelle with a blown big block and Tornardo trannny
in Car Craft magazine.
The panther and RSX would probably runs low to mid 15's, but I think the RSX would win on the top end. Remember the early '90s? Factory 5.0L Mustangs ran mid to high 14's often at the strip with 225 hp. The today's imports aren't far behind and they have FWD. Challenge the Wyotech professors. Build the lightest car possible and race it. Power to weight is everything.

From what I've seen/heard, usually figure roughly 40hp is lost between the flywheel and tires. That's just a rough average, as you also have to consider auto vs. manual transmissions, rear ends, drive shaft, etc..., so if your really putting out about 300 at the crank you've got about 250-260 at the wheels.Nick
