you can cut the front !!! no more then 1 coil for every ten coils. basicly 10% can be cut with no problems. the rear can be cut but because they have a progressive spring rate it will not ride the same.

you cannot cut the rears they have a double pigtail, if you cut then they will not stay where they should be.

He is rights, they are double pig tails...I thought it was just a single pig tail....which means that these will not work Nitro.

I guess the best bet is just to find a set of PI coils. Just exploring the options ya know, I figured if I could drop the car an inch and kick up the spring rate why not give it a shot. Where is the best place for PI springs? I'm not too keen on buying used springs either.

Rear coils are double pigtails for sure - looking at the stock ones (rolling on the balcony) right now. Single pigtails will work too, but some custom spacers are necessary for the flat-ground end (nothing a good machine shop can't take care of), due to which you might end up about 1/2" higher at the axle.

For the front, we use the 5.5x9.5" ones, right? In that if I switch to some stiffer ones (for example 750lbs/in) won't that raise my front? I'd like to keep my front where it is now, but I also want the higher rate - at that point should I be on the look for some lowered ones?

no 9.5 inch springs are way too short. at the top of this forum there is a thread titled "Suspension Parts the will or should work for Panthers" Look in there for springs.

My 8,000 pound (4 ton) springs are only 5 inches tall in the front. 3 in tall in rear

Chachi, you're a low-rider, and I'm a hick - there is a distinct difference in the ride height at the rear bumper So no 5" or 3" springs for me, not on that vehicle at least.

Duce, thank, that's what happens when I post in the middle of the night - I've actually seen that topic, lots of useful info and right what I needed. Just one more question though - for the front do we use double flat-ground springs, or only one-side flat-ground? Seen both online, supposedly both are for Panthers, and it's way too cold for me to crawl under my TC to check it.

i suppose you could use a double ground spring, but they are single ground springs originally. if someone gets a set of double ground springs and installs them post them up.
