I'm sorry, I couldn't resist an opportunity to make a title like that.
There are three shafts I'm talking about, technically.
I got the axles and driveshaft off a 2010 P71. I know I need to shorten the axles to 30 7/8, and I'm gonna have Dutchmann up in Meridian do that, but I'm not completely sure about the driveshaft. I know I'll need Moog 348 converter joints to mate it to my things, but I don't know the length I need and I'm not sure if I should get new yokes or anything. I'm not going to be making any more power for a long time, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
How long will this driveshaft need to be to fit it into an 89 Grand Marquis? Is there anything else I'm missing?
(Now with 20% more cat. I have no idea what K15228 FLAP means, but it's written on there like 3 times)
I'll also stick in a few shots of one of the axles. They came from the same car, so they're both identical in wear and rust. They seem to be in excellent condition, but you can't be too sure. See what you think.
The relevant information: I'm going to be mating them with a Cobra differential and a GT500 diff cover, and I'm doing all three of them at once because my rear wheel bearings are unhappy and I only want to have to do this once. I paid $100 for the driveshaft and $105 each for the axles. It will cost $90 to shorten the pair of axles and $75 to shorten the driveshaft. There's nothing wrong with my driveshaft, I just got it because it was there for a decent price. It can wait, but the rest is a priority. I know I will need to remove the ABS tone rings from the axles, and I know how to do that pretty easily.
I...think that covers everything.
