    I don't think the light will tell you much. The cam to ignition timing won't change much as wear occurs. The issues is the cam timing realted to cylinder location.

    As for the harmonic balancer, the correct puller is a harmonic balancer puller or 3 bolt steering wheel puller is the tool to use. A jaw style will destroy the balancer.

      I have the balancer tool, I can't recall how to get the crank gear of the timing set off while the crank is still in the block and the block is in the car.

        I believe it just slides off, might need a little motivation with a small pry bar but I don't think it requires a puller.

        EEC III also does have a diag port somewhere, but I don't know where exactly. Should be somewhere on the driver's fender, probably near the cruise servo.

          I'm goin through all the same stuff right now. If you want to test and see if your sensors are working properly www.fordfuelinjection.com gives alot of specs and good advice.
