    A/C compressor help

Gotta new compressor put on my ride about 9 months ago....my ac belt keep snapping.
Turns out, my mechanic (not the guy who put it on) states that the compressor pully is about 1/4inch short
fom aligning with the other belts....

The compressor on it is a reman Four seasons part number 57111...which checks out as right.

I had the engine rebuilt....could it be the wrong type of bracket its bolted to?
Is there away to get pully spacers or something?

    Im going nuts, man

you're missing the support rod from the upper bracket to the bolt on the corner of the lower intake, but I don't think thats the real issue here. Looks almost like the idler pulley isn't on there right. it should go to one of the lower compressor bolts. There is also a spacer behind one of the smog pump bolts between the back side of the pump and the engine block that needs to be there or things do not line up right. Are all of the compressor bolts in? If memory serves here, there should be one on top and two under the pulley, and two more on the back end of the compressor where it bolts to the rear part of the bracket. I also can't quite recall how the plate where the idler pulley sits, but I know it sandwiches in there with the AC bracket somehow.

              Thanks for the response gadget....!!!
I will check all of the above 2morrow, when there is natural light
and post better pics.......just to know the idler pully may not be bolted right gives me rest.

that idler pulley dont look right, looks like one of those new plastic pos's.......try to find a idler in the yard off a earlier model with a bearing that can be pressed out and a new bearing pressed in......orig pulley on my towny, i just changed the bearing, cost e like 4 bucks.

I have one of those POS pulleys on my 88. works like a champ. it's even easier to get the belt on with that POS than the original.

                    Would this work?

Thinking the pulley bracket may be bent....I know it mounts to the a/c ompressor mount bracket

that would do the trick, since the bracket comes with. Also, if there no bolt on the back side to hold the pulley bracket in place besides the bolt at the compressor... you'll need to get one. And that would probably be why the bracket is bent.
