    tripminder compatibility

    Hi,

    I know the harness is different for 89. Will an older tripminder work in an 89 if the car has the correct 89 harness installed?

    I plugged in a tripminer, probably an older year, to use in diagnosing my existing unit and I only get clock functions.

          The "old" one works but the fuel consumed is off (reads low) between 8-18%. The "new" 1984 one shows only the clock functions.

            I could have sworn I was able to go through the functions when I bench tested it. Maybe I was dreaming. Sounds like the 84 one could be busted. BUT I still remember how easy it was to go through the buttons on them as compared to my car where I have to push the ever living crap out of them to get them to change function......IDK.

              The buttons could be ok, I do not know if the pinouts on the back of the tripminders are the same in all years.

                4 = Dimer
                5 = Battery power
                6 = Fuel Flow Input
                7 = Ground
                8 = Speed Input
