if you look at the pics of my car, the front end hasn't been removed. The cowl was painted with both fenders in place, though the hood was removed. It would be a fair bit easier to do this with the hood out of the way though. You'll want to remove all of the plastic stuff in the cowl area, but it all unscrews.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
