    Aero/Whale interchangablilty guide

Ok, ntech (thanks) first posted this link up here. I spoke with Bluemobile, from oqcvo.com (Now vicsters.ca) with regards to letting us post this here. He gave me the ok, as long as I linked it to their site. And I am a member over there as well.
    So.
This will answer all your questions about body panel fitment/interchange from 1992-present.
----> PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING <-----

    Thank you.

I love the constant "Town Cars have unique xxxxx". aka, its a fucking Lincoln, none of that shit fits.

1992-1997 Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis all have the same hoods. However, 1995-1997 came with aluminum hoods and 1992-1994 were steel. All look identical though.
Odd, my 92 has an aluminum hood. Wonder if it was replaced at some point.

The fact that I can essentially bolt a fender from my 19 year old car on to a brand new Vic certainly says something...

I compiled a similar list awhile back on my own. What I found is that EVERY Aero left STAP with an aluminum hood, if it has a steel one, its been replaced at one point. '92-'94 had steel trunk lids as where '95-'97 had aluminum.

I'm surprised Serge isn't hosting the article publicly anymore. Someone should contact him and maybe update the link with his permission, or copy the info into this thread.

All the pictures area dead too, but here's the text via the internet archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20100727...read.php?t=180

There have been a lot of talk regarding the compatibility of doors, bumper covers, grilles etc. among Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Marauder models so I've decided to put together this little page to hopefully clear up some of the questions and confusion.

                            Front Body Parts

                            Crown Victoria

                            1992

                            1993-1994

                            1995-1997

                            1998-2011

                            Grand Marquis

                            1992-1994

                            1995-1997

                            1998-2002

                            2003-2005

                            2006-2011

                            Marauder

                            Front Doors

Front doors from 1992-2011 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Marauder models look identical from the outside and should interchange between models in that year range. However, the mounts may be different as well as any hardware inside the door such as door locks, window regulators and any wiring.

                            Town cars have unique doors.

                            Fenders

All 1992-2011 Crown Victorias, Marauders and 2003-2011 Grand Marquis use identical fenders. However, newer models may have additional screw holes as well as lack of antenna cut-outs. Also, hood hinge mounting locations may be different.

All 1992-2002 Grand Marquis models use identical fenders. Newer models will not have antenna cut-outs. Also, hood hinge mounting locations may be different.

                            Town cars have unique fenders.

                            Front Bumper Covers

1992-1997 Crown Victorias share front bumper covers.

1998-2011 Crown Victorias share front bumper covers. The only difference among the years were bumper strip colors or lack of them.

1992-1994 Grand Marquis share front bumper covers.

1995-1997 Grand Marquis share front bumper covers.

1998-2002 Grand Marquis share front bumper covers.

2003-2005 Grand Marquis share front bumper covers.

2006-2011 Grand Marquis share front bumper covers.

                            Marauders have unique bumper covers.

Town cars have unique bumper covers.

Some 2003+ Grand Marquis and all Marauders come with fog lights.

With that said, the interchange between years and models varies. It depends if you are willing to swap other parts to make the bumper covers work. For example, you cannot put a 1995-1997 Grand Marquis bumper cover on a 1992 Grand Marquis but if you change header panel, headlights and grille, you can. Same goes for Crown Vics.

                            Grilles

1992 Crown Victorias do not have grilles. The header panel is a single piece and has only a Ford logo in the middle.

                            1993-1994 Crown Victorias share grilles.

                            1995-1997 Crown Victorias share grilles.

1998-2011 has several grilles which changed ever the years and look different depending if it's a police model or not. Overall the grilles can be interchanged between the years without any problems. There are two styles of grilles which were used and they are slotted and honeycomb. Slotted grilles came in chrome or black and honeycombs were all black. Chrome came on civilian models and black on police and fleet. The only exceptions were Crown Vic Sport which had body colored grilles in some years of production. You could also get a police model with chrome grille in Street Appearance Package.

                            1992-1994 Grand Marquis share grilles.

                            1995-1997 Grand Marquis share grilles.

                            1998-2002 Grand Marquis share grilles.

2003-2005 Grand Marquis and Marauders share grilles. Marauders grilles were body coloured and had unique emblems.

                            2006-2011 Grand Marquis share grilles.

                            Town cars have unique grilles.

With that said, the interchange between years and models varies. It depends if you are willing to swap other parts to make the grilles work.

Often people want to install a Marauder grille on a 98'-09' Crown Vic or Crown Vic grille on a 98'-11' Grand Marquis. Be prepared to replace some parts.

To get a Marauder Grille on your Crown Vic, you will need a new header panel, headlights, bumper cover and of course the grille. Those are required just to make it fit but not necessarily look good.

To get a Crown Vic grille on a Grand Marquis you will need pretty much same parts as listed above. Perhaps, fenders and corner lights as well if you are doing it to a 98'-02' Grand Marquis.

Also, several people have successfully swapped 03'-05' GMQ or Marauder grille on their 98'-02' Grand Marquis. However, there is a gap between hood and the grille when installed.

                            Hoods

1992-1997 Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis all have the same hoods. However, 1995-1997 came with aluminum hoods and 1992-1994 were steel. All look identical though.

1998-2011 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Marauder all have the same hoods.

                            Town cars have unique hoods.

With that said, you can not put a 98'+ hood on a 97'- car and expect it to look good unless of course you are willing to swap some other parts as well.

                            Headlights

                            1992-1997 Crown Victorias share headlights.

                            1998-2011 Crown Victorias share headlights.

                            1992-1994 Grand Marquis share headlights.

                            1995-1997 Grand Marquis share headlights.

                            1998-2002 Grand Marquis share headlights.

2003-2005 Grand Marquis and Marauder share headlights. Grand Marquis are chrome, Marauders have black inserts.

                            2006-2011 Grand Marquis share headlights.

                            Town cars have unique headlights.

The interchange between headlights is pretty limited without replacing other parts. The only direct interchange are Marauder and 03'-05' GMQ headlights.

You can also install 95'-97' GMQ headlights on a 92'-94' GMQ but there will be gaps in the corners of the grille due to obvious size differences. However, you can not install 92'-94' headlights on a 95'-97'.

Often people want to swap Marauder headlights on a Crown Vic. To do this, you will need a Marauder or 03'-05' GMQ header panel, grille, headlights (duh) and bumper cover to make it look good. bumper cover is not necessary but you will have huge gaps under the headlights.

                            Corner/Marker Lights

1992-1997 Crown Victoria share corner lights. There are two different styles available depending on the model. LX got unique corners.

1998-2011 Crown Victoria share corner lights.

1992-1997 Grand Marquis share corner lights. 1992-1994 are textured, 1995-1997 are clear. There are two different styles available depending on the model.

                            1992-1994 LS corner lamp

                            1992-1994 GS corner lamp

                            1995-1997 GS corner lamp

                            1995-1997 LS corner lamp

1998-2002 Grand Marquis share corner lights.

2003-2005 Grand Marquis and Marauder share corner lights. Grand Marquis are chrome, Marauder has black inserts.

2006-2011 Grand Marquis share corner lights.

Town Cars have unique corner lights.

With that said, you can swap corner lights among 98+' Panthers (excluding Town Car and 98'-02' Grand Marquis) with minor modifications to mounting locations and wiring.

You can not swap 98'-02' GMQ corners on a 92'-97' model due to size difference. Even though they look identical, they are not.

                            Header Panels

1992 Crown Victorias have unique header panels.

1993-1997 Crown Victorias share header panels.

1998-2011 Crown Victorias share header panels.

1992-1994 Grand Marquis share header panels.

1995-1997 Grand Marquis share header panels.

                            Rear Doors

1992-1997 Crown Victorias have unique rear doors which will not fit any newer models but they can be interchanged between the years. 1992-1997 Grand Marquis has different rear doors so you can not put a CV door on GMQ.

1998-2011 Crown Victoria doors are same as Marauder doors and are also the same as 1992-2011 Grand Marquis doors. Ones again the hardware may vary over the years. The only exception is the extended version of Crown Vic which has longer doors.

                            Town cars have unique doors.

                            Marauders have unique bumper covers.

Town cars have unique bumper covers.

With that said, the interchange between years and models varies. It depends if you are willing to swap other parts to make the bumper covers work.

People often want to install Marauder bumper cover on a 98'+ Crown Vic or Grand Marquis. It is a direct bolt on for both cars. On a Grand Marquis however, you will also need to swap your reverse lights panel or your trunk lid won't close.

                            Trunk Lids

1992-1993 Crown Victorias share trunk lids but have different trim. 93'-94' has a reflector, 92' doesn't.

1995-1997 Crown Victoria share trunk lids.

1998-2011 Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Marauder share trunk lids but have different reverse lights panel and trim on the outside depending on the year and model of the car (police, civilian, etc.)

1992-1994 Grand Marquis share trunk lids.

1995-1997 Grand Marquis share trunk lids.

Town cars have unique trunk lids.

With that said, you can not put a 1992-1997 Crown Victoria trunk lid on a 1992-1997 Grand Marquis because the shape of rear windows is different which makes the trunk lids curve differently as well.

Often people want to put a Crown Victoria reverse light panel on a Grand Marquis and vice versa. To swap a Crown Vic panel on GMQ, it's a simple bolt on. Remove your old panel and install a new one. However, you will have a gap between a trunk lid and a new panel because Grand Marquis has a license plate cut-out in the bumper cover. To do a clean install, you will also want to swap a bumper cover.

Now, to swap a Grand Marquis panel on a Crown Vic, you would have to swap a bumper cover as well as the panel. You can not make it work without installing a Grand Marquis bumper cover.

Often people want to swap 98'+ Crown Victoria taillights on a 98'+ Grand Marquis and vice versa. They are a direct bolt on. However, the bulb locations may be different. Also, the exterior trim may not match.

1995-1997 Crown Victoria taillights will not fit a 1995-1997 Grand Marquis due to obvious size differences.
