"Victory Lane" solenoid=fail

Today, the shop tested the "new" solenoid that Kevin installed on Saturday. It was deemed defective...They installed a better solenoid ($30 value, unknown brand) and now the car starts up just fine.

I returned the other part to Canadian Tire and got a refund.

The rusty rear doors that are being replaced. I'm going to keep them for parts though.

good news and bad news...

The rear doors are painted and on the car now. Sorry, no pics yet folks. Unfortunately, the car wouldn't start this evening, despite numerous attempts...The heavy rain today probably had something to do with it

Paul said he'll try and get the car running tomorrow. If so, he's willing to drive it into the city for me and save me a trip out. I hope the weather will improve by then.

the Lincoln is back!

Paul drove the TC to my workplace yesterday to save me a trip out to his shop (30 minutes away) which was very good of him. Here's the latest pics (with new rear doors) but I didn't wash the car before hand.

I've owned this ride for 2 years now, so it's awesome to see the body getting a make-over.

what to paint next...

Rear doors cost me $600 in total for prep, paint and installation. Front doors would be the next logical step. Trunk has a couple of minor rust holes on the inner lid. Hood is solid. Body panels have some rust bubbles but no holes that I can see. Paul charges $300 per panel.

It was nice out today, so I gave the interior a good vacuum. I think the floor mats are original since they have the Ford logo on the back.

I also decided to spray-bomb my spare tire rim flat black. I did some light sanding, washed it off and let it dry in the sun before paint.

I did a quick wax-job on the sides before quitting time.
