I had to replace the speakers in my mom's truck for that reason. The cones were seperating from the metal basket. Sounds pretty horrible when all you hear at normal listening levels are the speakers buzzing and crackling.

No. lol I have been lazy. I still have the stock bumper on the car...just with foglights to make it GTish looking.

              ^Yeah I think I have lol.

Had some time this morning and washed, clayed, polished and waxed the Escort. Came out nice..still has a bunch of scratches along the sides of the doors..possibly from years of automated car washes or just winter brushes in general.

Me posing...and my grandma sneaking in on the picture:

              All lights on:

              Two nice profile shots:

Nice reflection....original paint....nothing near as nice as my Crown Vic but for 17 year old paint I will not complain:

I give it a thumbs up:

              Some of the ass end:

              Fogs again:

              My two favorite shots:

              And where she sits:

Still too cold for me to change out the grille..I am afraid that the plastic clips for them will break when it is this cold..so it will wait. And I have not installed the color matched license plate frame because I am lazy...

I just saw a late '80s Escort GT on my way to work today. I wanted that car so bad. Though I would be equally as happy with a 1979 Chevette. 4.3L with a 5-speed and a turbo with a decent audio system.

Your grandma doesn't seem to want to let go of that car, if it was hers. It's nice to have a DD that is not your cruiser, huh?

The 80's EGT's are indeed sweet cars.

My Grandma does like the car, especially the seats..she always mentions the seats...but the car was getting old, rusty, leaking, hoses falling apart, needs tires among other things so it was not that hard of a decision. Every yearly inspection they were forced to cover 1000's in labor and parts to bring the car up to snuff...I think the inspection shops were taking advantage of them...but Grandpa has always been thinking about getting rid of it and purchasing a new car for Grandma.

I get the "your cars always look so clean" remarks.

I have not a clue why the plates were changed. I don't mind them...but that just may be because I have no choice..

In other news I am contemplating painting the muffler and tips black....just because they are fairly visible and look ugly. Got the idea from this video:

So they could make more money and force us to have these ugly new plates.

                              It is fierce.

Had some great weather this morning so dad and I put some stuff on the escort.....

Color matched skull license plate frame...I may black out the eyes on the skulls so you can see that they are skulls easier:

                              Also installed the EGT grille...

                              Before:

                              During:

                              After:

                              And with emblem installed:

Also installed were my mudflaps....which can be seen in the pictures. So many years of crud was built up on the panels behind the wheels. Luckily the car was rock guarded from the factory as I am sure that protected everything greatly...
