Welcome back, Ray! I just use the full site on Chrome for iOS. Works well.

So today I was removing seats to clean my carpet and interior to get rid of the mildew and smell that has been present. Well, I figured out what was letting mousture in. I have rot on both sides of the forward bulkhead, right where the door hinges are!

Also it appears that some piss poor bodywork has been done on the driver's side door and lower B pillar, which explains the rust. I have some work to do, for sure.

Most of them seem to have some amount of rust in that area. Its sort of a bad design. The metal layers together right where the cowl area drains down. Of course its going to get wet and rust through.

Doors are eventually going to come off for surgery. Getting a welder in August!

The doors sure do shut nicely on this car. I like it!

keep those hinges greased. I'm convinced that is the answer. The doors on my Mark VII are the only ones I've ever seen that do not sag, and that thing has a fuckload of miles on it. There is also evidence that the doors were regularly lubed.

The hinges on my 88 are so covered in grease they almost don't stop at the detents. Considering how much I use that car and how beat the driver door is, the fact it closes just like the day I got the car is proof grease works.

I read somewhere Ford started putting sealer across the top edge of the hinge were it bolts to the body to help prevent rusting out issues in the door jam area.

I'll rebuild those two areas, it will give me one of many great projects when I get a welder. I know i'll have a lot of other trim holes to fill in, too.

Probably be better than new since you'll seek out the problem areas. Looking forward to seeing the "finished product"!

Oh, and I will be converting to the 88-91 nose and tail. Why? Because.

My taillight panel is busted anyways.

I did it back in 2002 to the original GMGT. That was before there was ever a GMGT/Phayzer5 co-op!

Oh, my new (to me) Zoom Stage 2 26 spline clutch arrived today!
