How do I get inside the drivers side door assembly?

Interior door handle stripped at one end, I've just got to get inside there and screw it back on w/ the new nut and bolt but I don't have the foggiest as to how to gain access to my doors inner workings.

the panel is held on by plastic push pins around the edge and has screws under the armrest that hold it on.

I'll get yelled at for this, but surprisngly a search "door panel removal" came up with a really good thread.

Worst part is probably the armrest. On power-window cars at least, it's usually held in by about 2 or 3 dozen screws with 7mm heads. Removing the inner door-release handle (just one bolt, think that was 7 or 8mm) isn't required but makes things easier. A real door-panel or trim removal tool (this set works well) that reaches underneath the heads of the little plastic buttons makes it a lot easier to keep the cardboard backing in nice shape.

iirc there are six 7mm head screws holding the armrest on......you will also need new door panel clips......box of 20 is like 5 bucks at the auto parts store....take an old one with you to compare.....they look like little xmas trees

New door panel clips, I like that idea. Most of mine are getting funky from being in and out a few times.

BTW, someone with mod/admin privileges should switch this to the Interior Trim forum ....

I got far enough into it to realize that I don't have a tool to take out the screws holding the arm rest on. The little christmas-tree clips, speaker cover, etc come out easy enough but I can't take the armrest off. Bummer.

At least I found the culprit! These pieces had fallen down just by the door handle. Looks like whatever the other handle (the strap) was screwed into broke in two (probably more) pieces.

              Good deal.

Most of my armrests have come off with a 7mm nutdriver. Door panel removal tools are handy too, but a small prybar (like a miniature version of a Stanley Wonder Bar) can often help save the clips retaining the panel.
